How can I generate 'hype' about myself to get more freelance work?
I'm a photographer living in a new town. My work is good but I'm not a PR machine. I want people to call me - trying to even get past the voicemail of potential clients is driving me crazy!

Take nice pics of city landmarks. Offer them to businessess (high volume such as restaurants) for free (with your card/name/contact info/plaque or what not attached). Make sure to remind the viewer to call you for affordable photography.

There was a photographer who had a simple gimmick when he took photos: he would ask his subjects to jump. I have seen a collection of his photos - even royalty agreed to be photographed jumping! Create a gimmick like the "jump" one.

Set up a column for a local newspaper where readers are invitied to contribute with unusual photographs of the town/city. For example: photos of the town's buildings in extreme weather conditions. Photos of the town's people doing unusual things. Add this to your CV.
