If we felt there was a segment of our customers who used twitter or plurk, we can create a username that would be linked to a product or market. Then we can send them a short text update on new developments along with a link to a major website (with the detailed info / video, etc.). This would keep them updated based on them subscribing and connect to them where and when they want to be connected (through twitter/plurk).

If a website truly was desired by the customer and regularly reviewed, there may be an opportunity to tie a sales initiative to the site. Each product or market could have a livechat link that would allow the customers to interact with a technical expert or salesman. This would be intended more as informational but would be an opportunity to develop sales relationships or work towards an potential order as well.

A website geared more towards quick updates that are less formal and more innovative (mixture of pictures, video, text) would be useful on a subscriber basis to customers. This websie would have different updates (maybe by product type or market) that would be available to the customer by subscription (no fee). An update would be sent via RSS link (basically e-mail) when new updates were made available. I project updates to be 1-2 times per month with a maximum of 1 per week.
